Arriving at Bowness on Windermere in time to buy lunch, cross Windermere by ferry and picnic on the quiet west shore of the lake.

This was the week of near hurricane force gales in the south, floods along the Severn Valley & the River Ouse and generally very wet weather everywhere.

We stayed at Goody Bridge Cottage, Easedale which provides accommodation for two; ideally situated for exploring the central fells around Grasmere & beyond.

We stayed at The Barn, Seatoller which provides accommodation for four and is ideally situated for exploring the fells in the surrounding locality.

Christmas 2001

We stayed at Goody Bridge Cottage, still our preferred choice of accommodation.
A pleasant week over the Christmas week spent re-visiting familiar haunts around the Central Fells.

We stayed at The Pavilion, Clappersgate on the outskirts of  Ambleside which provides accommodation for two and is ideally situated for exploring the Central Fells.

We stayed at White Wicket at Lonsties on the outskirts of  Keswick.  This year we explored some of the lesser frequented fells; some might say 'Wainwright Bagging' but that's only true if it's the intention to complete them all which is not our intention. There are some fells, i.e. Mungrisdale Common, that probably will only be seen from edge of Skiddaw Forest.

A 'stopover day' returning home from Scotland, we stayed at Borwick Lodge which is set in the heart of the English Lake District in a delightful and tranquil setting

We stayed at Manasty in Applethwaite, on the outskirts of  Keswick, which provides superb views across to the North Western Fells.  A week spent revisiting favourite haunts & exploring one or two new fells including Mungrisdale Common, which I vowed never to do.

June 2006

We stayed at White Wicket at Lonsties on the outskirts of  Keswick.  This year we explored some more of the lesser frequented fells as well as revisiting one or two favourites; some might say further 'Wainwright Bagging' but that's only true if it's the intention to complete them all.

We stayed at Portinscale, to the west of  Keswick, which provides a good base to explore the Northern & North Western Fells

We stayed at Lonsties, to the east of  Keswick, which provides a good base to explore the Central, Eastern, Northern & North Western Fells

We stayed at Deer Cottage in the Borrowdale valley; the cottage is nestled below Walla Crag providing stunning views of Catbells & the surrounding fells

We stayed in the
Keswick on the outskirts of the town just off Chestnut Hill; our accommodation provided superb views across Keswick to the Bassenthwaite Lake & Skiddaw
